Welcome to the Montreal White Dwarf Database (MWDD). MWDD is a user friendly tool to explore and display data from spectroscopically confirmed white dwarfs published in the literature. Basic white dwarf properties from evolutionary models and diffusion timescales for heavy elements are also accessible.
MWDD currently includes data compiled from papers and a few websites (see references). We included well known papers with many white dwarfs, as well as some review articles, in order to get as many objects as possible in the first version of the database. This is a work in progress, as more papers are linked to the database its degree of completeness will improve.
If you can’t find your favorite white dwarf in MWDD, or you believe a paper containing useful information should be included, simply let us know and we will add it (or even better, create the .csv file for that paper and send it to us, see Database description for an overview of our methodology).
We welcome contributions and corrections from all professional astronomers and white dwarf aficionados. Send feedback or questions to dufourpa@astro.umontreal.ca.
This website supports the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. Some functions in MWDD are not supported by Internet Explorer. IE is thus not recommended.
